Stephanie Jolene Sloas Smith, age 45, of Ewing Road, Ewing, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born April 1, 1978, in Fleming County, and is the daughter of Wilma Humphries Sloas and the late Donnie Lee Sloas. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kendall Sloas, and beloved K-9 Shih-tzu, Cooper.
Stephanie is survived by her husband of 18 years, Mark Smith, whom she married August 17, 2005; one daughter, Amber Smith Kearney of Johnson City, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Briella “Elly May” Kearney; her mother, Wilma Humphries Sloas of Ewing; three brothers, Alan Sloas (Mary) of Jackson, Kentucky, Greg Sloas of Flemingsburg, and Rodney Cummings (Heather) of Flemingsburg; a special K-9 Shih-tzu, Molly; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Stephanie was a graduate of Fleming County High School and Maysville Community Technical College. She was line machine attendant for Mitsubishi Electric in Maysville. Stephanie enjoyed crafting, traveling, watching U.K. basketball, and spending time with her mother and granddaughter. She will be remembered always and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother James Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Blake Cannon, Brandon Pollock, Rodney Cummings, Doug Gulley, Lonnie Shoemaker, and Duane Humphries. Honorary pallbearers: Darren Pollock, Steve Hunt, Debbie Holland, and Marsha Kielman.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
